MMA in Columbus, OH

When I hear people talking about pop culture, I think of Mixed Martial Arts. I think MMA has had a huge impact on popular culture over the last 5 years even though it has been around for about 20 years. Popular culture to me is the what is new and upcoming around the world, what is getting a lot of attention, and what are people spending their money on.  I think popular culture is important in business because it sets trends, and these trends are reviewed and analyzed and sometimes are a huge impact on what businesses do to get into the loop. No matter what type of career you have or are pursuing, there will always be a way to tap into the popular culture, and you what is in to your advantage on many different levels. Businesses are taking advantage of the widespread interest in MMA and using their viewing audience to get their advertisement out there on fighters clothing, gloves, and even in their corners. MMA in my mind, is definitely in popular culture at this current time.

  1. If you think about it, understanding popular culture is a prime ingredient to successful business. Businesses have to know what excites people; when people are excited about something, they spend money on it. In other words, if a business does not have the items people (consumers) want, nothing will sell. In turn, the business fails.

  2. I would have not thought about this but you are correct. In my generation this type of thing was more of a mans sport but with the younger generation even the girls are liking the sport....I'm getting old :). Great choice.

  3. Great choice in picking MMA. The sport is gaining popularity all the time. It is very brutal and not for the faint of heart to watch. I have seen a few fights on pay-per-view and it is very entertaining. Better than boxing. I always liked the old kung fu movies. I would have liked to learn some martial arts myself, but never had the time. I did watch a reality show about some guys training to be MMA fighters. They had to go to China, I think. Their instructor kept hitting them with sticks to build their tolerance to pain. Ouch! I couldn't do it. I give them a lot of credit.
